The holidays are comin’ in hot and with a predicted average spend of $1,000 per person, it pays to have a plan in place to capitalize on the busiest shopping season of the year.

And with so many people in a giving — and spending — mood, why not make your products and services the clear choice this holiday season?

So if you’re ready to take your slice of the $789 BILLION holiday retail pie, consider leveraging one or all of the following holiday promotion ideas.

What’s the best form of marketing for the holiday?

  • Salon Product Gift Baskets
  • Instagram Collaboration Feature
  • Holiday Hairstyles
  • Hair Salon & Styling Gift Cards
  • Holiday Discounts!
  • Holiday Fundraising for Charity
  • Holiday Hair Selfie Setup
  • Hair Care Stocking Stuffers
  • Salon Service Giveaways
  • Holiday Decorations For Your Salon

Salon Product Gift Baskets

Combine products that don’t sell so well on their own into a holiday gift bundle.

People love the ease of buying pre-assembled gifts that are basically several gifts in one.

You can even throw in those samples that have been taking up space in your cabinets as an added bonus.

Giving each bundle a specific theme like “deep-conditioning gift set” or “Ultimate cleansing kit” is a great way to boost sales as well because each one solves a specific problem that your customers can relate to.

Instagram Collaboration Feature

Now that Instagram has upped their game on Collaborations, working with other industry pros to expand your collective reach and impact has never been easier.

By leveraging social media and the relationships you’ve made throughout your salon suite location, you can work with other beauty industry professionals down the hall to offer one-stop-shop packages that include hair, nails, massage, facial, etc. all in one place.

The added convenience for your customers is a huge selling point and collaborating with others opens up the possibility of serving new clients.

Holiday Hairstyles

With larger gatherings becoming more and more common again, the holiday party scene is back up and running.

Everything from family gatherings, to house parties, and company holiday events are back in vogue and since many of your customers likely kept their gatherings small last year, they’re going to want their hair, nails, and makeup done to look their very best for their triumphant return to the larger social scene.

Consider posting and advertising some of the holiday-themed color schemes, styles, and accessories you can offer and watch your book fill up (if it’s not already).

Hair Salon & Styling Gift Cards

Offer gift cards for your services and make sure to tell your clients, so they can tell their significant others.

It’s as simple as that.

You can even consider offering a free or discounted product, service, or an added $20 gift card for every $100 spent.

This way, if a customer is buying a gift card for a friend or loved one, they’ve got the added incentive of a little something extra for themselves, as a stocking stuffer, or to tack on to the gift they’re already giving.

Holiday Discounts!

Consider offering discounts on select products and services during the holiday season.

We know. It sounds a little counterintuitive, but people are always looking for ways to stretch their budget during the holidays.

Not to mention, after you’ve lured them in with that sexy discount, while they’re in your studio they’re more likely to buy other products and you can encourage them to pre-book their next appointment at full price while they’re there.

Holiday Fundraising for Charity

Nothing says “holidays” like giving back. Not only is it a great way to give back to the community and those in need, but it’s an amazing marketing tool.

You can solicit donations from your clients or donate proceeds from certain services and products you offer in-studio.

It doesn’t have to be anything overly expensive either. You can even donate a percentage of each service or product you sell, and people will be more likely to use it because they’ll feel good about knowing that part of the money is going towards something bigger than themselves.

You can also ask people to donate items they’d already be buying, such as toiletries, makeup, and other beauty products in lieu of cash.

Holiday Hair Selfie Setup

Let’s face it: people love a good before and after transformation and the holidays are no exception.

Capture your customers with a festive backdrop, props, and even an accompanying holiday-themed hashtag or two to get them involved and spark some interaction on social media.

Not only will this help spread awareness of your salon (and potentially bring in some new customers), but it’s also a great way to show off your creative skills, holiday flair, and the results you can get on all kinds of hair types.

Hair Care Stocking Stuffers

The holidays are a great time to leverage those extras you always have lying around.

Create some pre-packaged stocking stuffers with travel sizes of your top sellers like shampoo and conditioner, leave-in treatments, hair masks, and styling products.

This is an excellent way to both introduce new clients to the quality of your products, as well as reward regular customers with goodies they can use and enjoy during their travels or over the holidays.

Leave the stocking stuffers close to checkout or somewhere prominent in your suite so they're top of mind when your clients are checking out.

Salon Service Giveaways

If you want to give potential customers a real treat this holiday season, consider having a giveaway.

You can partner with a number of different businesses to offer services such as makeovers, haircuts, and more.

Don’t forget to promote the giveaway on your social media channels and include a link where people can find out more about it. This is a great way to get new clients in the door and show them what your salon has to offer.

Holiday Decorations For Your Salon

Show your holiday spirit by decorating your salon with festive decorations.

You can get creative and add things like decorative lights, garlands, poinsettias, ornaments, and other items to show off the season’s cheer.

This is a great way to show off your creativity and make your salon a welcoming and inviting space to primp for the holidays.
